Benefits of Membership

The Montgomery County Bar Association has held over 300 active members for years. The County Bar has recently experienced a growth spurt. Today, we have over 380 members — who see that membership gets access to unmatched benefits.

Here are some things your MCBA dues gave you and the local community in 2025:

Membership Term and Dues

MCBA membership runs with the calendar year. It is valid from January 1 to December 31. A membership application completed in December will be understood to cover the upcoming membership year. If a membership application is completed before December 1, it will cover membership for the current membership year. That member must re-apply for the following membership year.

General MCBA membership dues are $90, except for Montgomery County employees whose dues are $65.

Family Law Section

The MCBA’s Family Law Section hosts its own CLE’s. You must specifically join the section to attend. To join the Section, you must elect to join and pay an additional $25.

Probate Law Section

The MCBA’s Probate Law Section hosts its own CLE’s. You must specifically join the section to attend. To join the Section, you must elect to join and pay an additional $25.

Application Processing Timeline

It may take us a bit to process your application and send you any requested letter of good standing. Please allow 7 days from receipt for us to process an online application. Mailed applications may take up to 14 days from receipt to process. During December, January and February, please allow 21 days from receipt.

Courthouse Badge

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office issues courthouse access badges, while the MCBA provides a letter of good standing required by the MCSO to get your badge. Once we have processed your application (see processing timelines above), we will e-mail you a letter of good standing and instructions on the MCSO’s process to secure your badge.
